The CV Boys’ Swim Team demonstrated their power at the recent Swimming State Championships at Tualatin Hills, clinching an impressive 2nd place overall, falling just 19 points behind the West Albany boys team. Led by new head coach Kenzie Settlemeyer, the team’s remarkable performance marked their return to the podium after a determined season of training and dedication.
Standout performances were seen from the All-State Participants. In the individual finals, athletes showcased their skills with impressive results. Lincoln Bennett earned 5th place in the 200 IM and 6th place in the 100 Breaststroke, while Corbin Bye secured 4th place in both the 200 Free and 500 Free. Cyprus Cheatham excelled with 5th place in the 200 Free and 3rd place in the 100 Fly, while Keller Evans showcased his speed, clinching 2nd place in both the 50 Free and 100 Free. Emerson Gatherum secured 3rd place in the 200 IM and 5th place in the 100 Breaststroke and Vasili Karatzas qualified for the 200 IM Finals. Last but definitely not least, Lucy Reinhart placed 6th in the 100 Breaststroke being the only female CV swimmer to qualify for state finals.
Other CV State Qualifiers include Paisley Eveland and Emma Middlestadt! Alternates Zami Dahkum, Laura Chen, and Hunter Steele also contributed to the team’s success.
In the Relay finals, which count for twice the amount of points than individual finals, the team continued to shine. The Boys 200 Medley Relay secured an impressive 2nd place finish with the teamwork of Emerson Gatherum, Lincoln Bennett, Cyprus Cheatham, and Keller Evans. The Boys 200 Free Relay, composed of Lincoln Bennett, Vasili Karatzas, Gavin Morag, and Corbin Bye, secured a commendable 4th place. Additionally, the Boys 400 Free Relay, featuring Emerson Gatherum, Corbin Bye, Gavin Morag, and Keller Evans, clinched a remarkable 2nd place.
