If you are in band or orchestra at CV, you know Ms. Perkins. If you went to Cheldelin Middle School, you also may know Mr. Blake. You may not know that this summer, Ms. Perkins and Mr. Blake had a wedding! Mr. Blake is the Band and Orchestra teacher at the middle school, and Perkins is at Crescent Valley High School along with teaching the CHS orchestra. I interviewed Perkins for more information about their life together. The two met at the Twin Rocks band camp in 2019, both being directors at the camp. They enjoy playing duets together on many different instruments, and even play some of the songs they teach in class together! As for teaching, Perkins taught at the middle school for many years before transferring to CV in 2022, when Mr. Blake took over at middle school. “We do have different strengths and weaknesses,” Perkins said,  “so it’s perfect that I eventually get the students he had.” It is clear that they love each other very much because of the amount of support they show each other. If you are in the CV band or orchestra, you may see Mr. Blake watching your performance or helping set up for a football game. When I asked about some funny stories she would like to share, Perkins said, “It’s hard to pick a funny story. I have lots. In general, I think he is hilarious. I think it’s funny when he tries to explain something and it doesn’t work, so he just ends up saying the most absurd things.” She also remarked that one of her most memorable stories to share was “When he got pied in the face at a concert and then conducted a piece. There was pie everywhere.” These two make a beautiful couple, they both love music and they both love each other!
