Crescent Valley High School has a great number of sports programs, including football, soccer, tennis, baseball, volleyball, and more. There are some well known sports and some lesser known, but there is still a large culture of athleticism around the school. Wrestling is a sport that contributes to this culture.

Wrestling is a winter sport, from early November to late February. The coaches are Isaiah Anderson, Brian, Alex, and the head coach is Connor Norton, with team captains being Jacoby Jones and Colton Hankey, both juniors who you may already know. Each practice of the team meets after school at 3:30 on odd/all days and 2:30 on even days, including Saturdays at 8:00. Isaiah holds an early morning weightlifting session at 6:30 every day, which encourages people to reach their best shape.

A typical day of practice starts with all wrestlers checking their weight and reporting it, before being briefed on what they will be working on and what events will come up. Next is warmup, typically lasting 10-20 minutes. A warmup usually consists of jogging, hopping, rolling, lunges, cartwheels, and stretches. After warmup, athletes practice old techniques and new techniques with sparring partners. These go on for an hour, before there is a water break, and wrestlers go back to it for another hour. At the very end of practice is another weight check and a recap of what happened and coaches saying what they think wrestlers should work on and what they did well. Afterwards, athletes are allowed to go home.

Wrestling is a high-intensity sport, with a few athletes dropping a week or two after it begins. Most stay for the full season, trying their hardest to fight on the mat and win as often as possible. Crescent Valley has been dominant on the mat for over 40 years, and continues to bring it home.
