- What is one thing you have learned during your time in high school, and how do you use that knowledge in daily life?
I think that you should be as open as possible, whether it’s taking as many new different classes or engaging with different kinds of people, making new friends, joining new clubs. One of the biggest things in my high school experience was my new experiences, because they made me a more well-rounded person. I want to take that with me to college. I think you should always be excited to try new things.
- What is one thing about CV that you really enjoy?
I really like our culture. I think we have a lot of school pride, which makes it very nice for students. Coming in my freshman year, the culture was not the same – it was still very divided among classes, but now we’ve built a student culture where every day people come into school excited to learn, excited to be there. There’s always something new happening at Crescent Valley for people to be excited about, and that’s what I really like about it.
- What is one thing that you have accomplished that you would like to share?
My biggest accomplishment in high school has been advocating for my community in front of the school board. I went into it like any other student government position, but soon I realized the importance of my position on the board and the importance of the words I was speaking.
- What is one class or activity that you have enjoyed being a part of?
One class that I’ve enjoyed unexpectedly has been glass arts. It started off Freshman year as the only elective in my schedule, and it’s now something I really enjoy doing. It’s sort of been like a therapy for me, because I have seven periods this year and no off blocks, but I’m really glad I have one class to let go and express myself.
- Is there any wisdom you would like to share with future CV students?
My biggest wisdom is don’t underestimate yourself. Believe that you can do what you work hard at, regardless of what anyone tells you. School can be super stressful and on the other hand can feel not so motivating, because there are kids who have no plan after high school and no motivation for doing the things that they do, and my wisdom for CV students is to not underestimate yourself and don’t be afraid to get out of your comfort zone.
